Business Officer Institute (BOI)

Two times a year, the UC Office of the President asks UCLA's Campus Human Resources to solicit applications by university business officers to participate in a multi-day institute offering systemwide perspectives. Senior administrators from across the UC system deliver seminars and case studies on financial management, sponsored research, information technology, audit, ethics, and human resources. The location has rotated between a southern and a northern campus location, with UCOP covering expenses except for travel to the site.

BOI is designed for business officers with broad responsibilities in the areas of budget, personnel, technology, and space in their organizations, with applicants from academic units accommodated by OP first. The intention, however, is to offer this intensive, high visibility program to all UC business officers. Almost 100 business officers from UCLA attended during FY1998/99. CHR issues a call for nominations via e-mail approximately one month prior to the application deadline for each session, announcing criteria, application procedures, and institute location.
