UCLA Staff Enrichment Program (SEP)

The Staff Enrichment Program is a highly successful, skill building program that enhances career progression among staff participants and increases organizational productivity for sponsoring departments.  Staff acquire greater knowledge of campuswide resources, increasing their effectiveness on the job.  A calendar year program, it increases career awareness, provides vocational skills training, and broadens understanding of developmental pathways for staff employees at UCLA.

Program Goals Program Components

Program components include a career assessment retreat, skills training, team projects, partnering with alumni, department projects and networking opportunities.  Participants are engaged in activities with the entire group, work group team and one on one sessions with the program coordinator.

Monthly seminars are intended to provide organizational information and a greater awareness of campus resources.  Topics often include:

Participants work on team projects for the year.  They research their topic and give a presentation of findings at the conclusion of the program.  A range of skills is developed and showcased, including technical capabilties in specialty areas, research and analysis, teamwork, report preparation and public speaking.

Through the assessment component and individual sessions with the program coordinator, participants are provided assistance in developing their own career objectives.  Well-defined plans provide the tools and strategies to accomplish short and long-term goals.
