Guidelines for Employees Affected by Campus Flooding

The University is working hard to address the needs of employees affected by the water-main break on Tuesday, July 29, 2014. If you have been impacted by the flooding in UCLA Parking Structures 4 and 7, as well as Pauley Pavilion, Arthur Ashe Student Health and Wellness Center, J.D. Morgan Center, Acosta Center, John Wooden Center, North Athletic Field, Intramural Field, and Bruin Plaza, below are guidelines regarding options available for emergency leave and related support services.

  • Administrative leave with pay is available during natural disasters or other emergencies and is addressed under the Absence from Work Policy, Section F. Administrative Leave. In consultation with Campus Human Resources, Organization Heads may approve up to two days of administrative leave with pay and may authorize additional leave as needed to address situations in which staff employees are unable to report to work due to the nature of this emergency.
  • Additionally, departments may allow employees who are unable to work, as a result of the flooding, to use their accrued vacation, compensatory time off, or leave without pay.

For employees who have cars that are not retrievable from UCLA Parking Structures 4 and 7, visit the following website to file a report: https://www.sustain.ucla.edu/flood/
If you have any questions, contact Policy and Personnel Services Manager Lazetta Smith at lazetta@chr.ucla.edu or your Employee/Labor Relations consultant in Campus Human Resources for guidance on any of these policies.
