How to Classify or Reclassify a Staff Position

To request the classification of a new position or the reclassification of a currently classified position, please complete a job description in PeopleAdmin and submit it to Campus Human Resources (CHR), Compensation Services for review and response.

If requesting a reclassification, please review the Reclassification Request Checklist, which describes important information that should be included with the request.

A job description should be prepared whenever a new position is being established or a currently classified position has changed significantly. Once approved, this will become the official record of duties assigned to a position, and the skills, knowledge, abilities and competencies required for satisfactory performance of the position. The job description provides information necessary for the classification of the position, as well as for the recruitment and selection process.
