In-Service Training Programs

The In-Service Training Program is a series of short courses and programs designed for UCLA employees in conjunction with campus departments and Campus Human Resources Learning & Organizational Development.

"Managing a Diverse Workforce"

Supervisors and managers must be aware of and understand their role in providing a discrimination-free and harassment-free work environment for all employees. This workshop provides an overview of the equal employment opportunity and affirmative action-related laws and policies that apply to the University. The impact of the University's nondiscrimination in employment policies on every day decision-making is explored through interactive exercises and actual court case reviews.

This workshop for supervisors and managers discusses UCLA's goal of attaining and valuing the diversity of the UCLA staff community. Participants develop a broader understanding of diversity issues at UCLA and learn to deal with challenges created by managing a workforce of employees from various cultural backgrounds. Through case studies and application of principles learned in class, participants develop strategies for problem solving to address sensitive diversity issues.
