Guidelines for Special Equity Increases for Policy-Covered Staff (FY 2005-06)

As a follow up to the recent memorandum regarding the Salary Plan for policy-covered staff for fiscal year 2005-2006, additional information on the Special Equity Increase process is now available. For your use in reporting recommended increases, use the Guidelines for Administration of Special Salary Equity Funding and the Special Equity Tracking (SET) form.

This funding is to be used only for specifically identified equity issues based on criteria that are established in the guidelines. In using the form, you will be asked to identify the reason for the recommended increase and to offer a brief justification.

Compensation Services has a variety of resources available to assist your review. Your Compensation Consultant is available to provide this information upon request.

Once you have completed your review and the SET form, forward it to Compensation Services no later than November 10, 2005. You will be notified once the Compensation review is complete, and you are free to implement the changes into EDB. As the October 1, 2005, merit increases will not be updated to EDB until October 31, 2005, no equity changes should be implemented until after that date. Consider post-merit salaries when reviewing for equity. Equity increases for this program will also be effective on October 1, 2005.

While SET forms must be submitted to Compensation Services by November 10, 2005, you can return the forms at any time prior to that date. Equity increases for the program, along with retroactivity, will appear in paychecks on December 28, 2005, for employees on a biweekly pay schedule and on January 3, 2006, for employees on a monthly pay schedule.

Contact your Compensation Consultant if you have any questions or need assistance with the review. For queries regarding EDB processing, contact Personnel Services.
