Policy Revisions Issued for PPSM 66 and PPSM 81

Re: Revised Personnel Polices for Staff Members: Policy 66 Medical Separation and Policy 81 Reasonable Accommodation
President Dynes has issued policy revisions and associated Universitywide procedures for Personnel Policies for Staff Members (PPSM) 66—Medical Separation—and PPSM 81—Reasonable Accommodation. The policies have been revised to align them with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act and the California Fair Employment and Housing Act. The policies specifically address the need for the employer and employee to engage in an “interactive process” to identify possible options for reasonably accommodating the employee’s disability.
Updated implementing procedures for UCLA will be developed and issued in the near future in order to reflect these systemwide policy revisions.
