Proposed Revisions to Staff Policy 70 - Complaint Resolution

DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS & ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS

Re: Proposed Revisions to Staff Policy 70 – Complaint Resolution

The University of California Office of the President is proposing to revise Staff Policy 70, “Complaint Resolution,” in order to clarify the process for resolving complaints. This policy applies to employees in the Professional & Support Staff (PSS) grades and Managers & Senior Professionals (MSP) salary grades I-VII.

The proposed revisions are intended to better define the rights and responsibilities of both the employee and the University, as well as provide clarity regarding the complaint resolution process.

In addition, several new sections have been added:

  • Informal Complaint Resolution
  • Early Complaint Resolution (Career Employees Only)
  • Withdrawal of a Complaint
  • Failure to Participate
  • Remedy
  • Conflict of Interest

Upon approval, the revised policy would replace Personnel Policies for Staff Members (PPSM) 70 on Complaint Resolution dated March 1, 2000. To view the full policy, go to Related Information.

In accordance with our process for formal review, please circulate the proposed policy changes to policy-covered employees in your organization. Comments and questions may be submitted to Director Lynne Thompson (thompson@chr.ucla.edu) for campus organizations or to Director Maure Gardner (mgardner@mednet.ucla.edu) for Health System organizations by April 26, 2012.

Sincerely,
