Technical Revisions to PPSM 21: Appointment

The Office of the President has issued technical revisions to Personnel Policy for Staff Members (PPSM) 21: Appointment.  The changes bring University policy into conformance with Assembly Bill 22, which restricts the use of consumer credit reports for employment purposes.

The technical changes are reflected in Section III.E., which now states the following: “Credit background checks may be conducted depending on the nature of the position, as set forth in detail in Section V. of the policy.”  Section V. includes the specific criteria and limitations for determining which positions may be subject to having credit background checks performed.

Campus procedures will be updated to reflect these technical changes. In the meantime, consult with Director Elaine Peters or your CHR Employment Consultant in applying the provisions of this policy.
