Wage Implementation for Lower-Wage UPTE Represented Employees

In recognition of the impact of California’s high cost of living on lower-wage employees, and as part of ongoing efforts to provide competitive total compensation for all University employees, the University has reached agreement with UPTE on behalf of represented employees in the RX (Research Support) unit and TX (Technical) unit.

UCLA will implement the following wage increases effective April 1, 2007, for monthly paid employees and March 25, 2007, for biweekly paid employees in the RX and TX units, as follows:

  • Employees in a title for which the incumbents earn an average salary of $34,500 or less per year will receive a 1.95% salary increase
  • Employees in a title for which the incumbents earn an average salary of $34,501 through $35,500 per year will receive a 0.95% salary increase
  • Employees in a title for which the incumbents earn an average salary of $35,501 through $39,999 per year will receive a 0.50% salary increase.

A list of the affected UPTE titles is in Related Information for your review. Rate changes will be posted to the Title and Pay Plan soon.

In order to be eligible, employees must be in the bargaining unit on active status or an approved leave on the effective date of the increase and on the date of payout.

Changes will be updated into EDB the evening of August 6, 2007, and records will be available for review on August 7, 2007. IPAY screens will be available for review on August 17, 2007, for biweekly paid employees and August 27, 2007, for monthly paid employees.

Biweekly paid employees will receive their increase, including retroactive pay, on their paycheck of August 22, 2007, and monthly paid employees will receive their increase, including retroactive pay, on their paycheck of August 31, 2007.

Please pass this information on to others within your organization who have a need to know. Contact your Compensation Consultant with any questions regarding these changes or Personnel Services for questions regarding EDB.
