Wage Implementation for RX and TX Collective Bargaining Contracts

As the next step in implementing the collective bargaining agreements between the University of California and the University Professional and Technical Employees (UPTE) union, the following wage changes are effective December 30, 2007, for employees paid biweekly and January 1, 2008, for employees paid monthly.

Employees eligible for the following increases are non-probationary, career appointees in the bargaining unit on active status or on an approved leave on the effective date of the increase and the date of payout.

Research Unit (RX)

Merit Increase: Eligible employees with a performance rating of satisfactory or better will receive a one-step within range merit increase.

Technical Unit (TX)

Merit Increase: Eligible employees with a performance rating of satisfactory or better will receive a one-half step within range merit increase.

The merit increases will be processed centrally in accordance with the above eligibility. Therefore, if any employees have received a less-than-satisfactory performance rating, contact Compensation Services no later than December 10, 2007.

The merit rosters will reflect all changes that have been processed and updated in EDB as of Thursday, December 6, 2007. Departments are encouraged to withhold processing any changes for employees who are eligible for the merit increase until the EDB reflects the merit increase on Monday, January 7, 2008. During the processing period (December 7, 2007, through January 6, 2008), any changes made in EDB may disrupt implementation of merit actions. If this occurs, EDB preparers will need to manually process the merit increase in EDB. If you have employees who separate during this period, e-mail their names to Compensation Services and/or send a copy of the PAN notification when the separation is processed.

New rates for biweekly paid employees will be reflected on the January 23, 2008, paycheck for which IPAY screens can be reviewed on January 17, 2008. New rates for monthly paid employees will be reflected on the February 1, 2008, paycheck for which IPAY screens can be reviewed on January 28, 2008.

Distribute this information to others in your organization who have a need to know, and contact Compensation Services with any rate-related questions or Personnel Services for questions regarding EDB updates.
