Wage Implementation of SX Collective Bargaining Agreement

As the next step in the three-year agreement between the University of California and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) for the Service Unit (SX), ratified on May 9, 2005, the following changes are effective as of October 1, 2005.

  • New Range Minimums: Pay ranges for job titles within the SX unit will have a new range minimum of at least $9.00 per hour. For your convenience, the range minimums, effective October 1, 2005, are available in a new range chart. These ranges have also been updated on the Compensation Services Title and Pay Plan.
  • General Increase:  Eligible employees, with the exception of those in Custodian job titles, will receive an across-the-board general increase of 3%. Increases for employees on a biweekly pay schedule are effective September 25, 2005, and are included in biweekly paychecks of October 19, 2005. Increases for employees on a monthly pay schedule are effective on October 1, 2005, and will be included on monthly paychecks of November 1, 2005.
  • Custodian Increase: Pay ranges for Custodian (Title Code 5117), Senior Custodian (Title Code 5116), and Lead Custodian (Title Code 5113) job titles will increase as indicated in the new range chart. Eligible employees in these job titles will receive a 4% pay increase. Effective dates and receipt of increased pay is the same as stated above for the General Increase.
  • Eligibility: Eligible employees are those members of the SX bargaining unit who have an active appointment as of the effective date of the increase, which is September 25, 2005, for those on a biweekly pay schedule and October 1, 2005, for those on a monthly pay schedule.
