Applications for 2006-2007 Staff Advisor to The Regents

“The Staff Advisor to The Regents serves as a valuable channel of communication between staff and The Regents. I encourage staff at all levels who are interested in contributing more broadly to the University to consider applying for this unique and important position.”
— Chancellor Albert Carnesale

Eligible UC staff and non-Senate academic employees who are interested in serving as the 2006-2007 Staff Advisor to The Regents may apply during the period beginning Tuesday, January 17, 2006, and ending at 5 p.m. on February 15, 2006.

The UC Staff Advisor Pilot Program, a two-year program approved by the Board of Regents and instituted in 2005-2006, is intended to allow The Regents to benefit from hearing staff and non-Senate academic employee perspectives on relevant matters that come before Regents’ committees and the Board. During the first year of the Pilot Program, two Staff Advisors were selected to advise two Regental committees. One of the two incumbent Staff Advisors, Dave Miller from UCLA, has been asked to continue to serve during 2006-2007 to ensure continuity of experience.

Applications Being Accepted Jan. 17, 2006, through Feb. 15, 2006

The incoming Staff Advisor will serve at least a one-year term beginning July 1, 2006. Should The Regents extend the Pilot Program, the incoming Staff Advisor would serve two years, ending June 30, 2008. President Dynes will select the Staff Advisor from all eligible UC staff and non-Senate academic employees in consultation with the Chairman of the Board of Regents.

Further information about the Staff Advisor Pilot Program, including the application form, a complete explanation of eligibility requirements, the application and selection process, and information regarding the role and responsibilities of the Staff Advisor, can be found on the UC Office of the President website under “How to Apply.” Questions about the program should be directed to Bill Neff, Special Assistant to Associate Vice President Boyette at the Office of the President, at (510) 987-9996.

For employees without computer or Internet access, hard copies of the application form and all relevant information on the process can be obtained from UCLA’s Campus Human Resources/Employment Office.
