Campus Guidelines Governing the Use of Furlough Time

UCLA Campus Guidelines governing the use of furlough time have been developed to help assist departments in implementing the 2009-10 Furlough/Salary Reduction Plan. The guidelines, which can be found in Related Information, are based on instructions issued by the Office of the President and are consistent with approval of Item J-2 at the July 16, 2009, Board of Regents’ meeting.

If you have any questions about use of furlough time, contact Policy & Personnel Services Manager Lazetta Smith at lazetta@chr.ucla.edu. For questions regarding the scheduling of closure days and notice requirements, contact Director Lynne Thompson at extension 4-0860 or your Employee/Labor Relations consultant.

Furlough Calculator & Other Resources

To help policy-covered employees schedule their furlough days, Campus Human Resources has developed an easy-to-use Furlough Calculator. It determines an employee’s approximate monthly accrual rate for furlough time and tracks the hours taken. This is an ideal tool for employees and supervisors to use for planning and managing furlough days over the next year. The Furlough Calculator is located in Related Information.

Be sure to look through all the resources in Related Information to find the latest updates on the UC furlough/salary reduction plan, including FAQs, a furlough fact sheet and UC Budget News.
