SelectPlus is a Resource for Summer Childcare

You’ve enrolled your children in summer camp and planned your vacation, but you still have a few holes in their summer schedules. SelectPlus, formerly Sittercity, may be the help you need. It provides a web-based solution to help you find and hand-select pre-screened in-home care. You select the local caregiver that's right for you.

Whether you need daily care or back-up care, SelectPlus provides a comprehensive childcare solution. UC pays the fee that gives you access to the SelectPlus website. You pay only for the services of the caregivers you hire. UC offers this benefit to help faculty and staff find caregivers—especially on short notice—so that they can get to the office or classroom with minimal disruption.

Faculty and staff who are eligible for benefits can activate their free UC membership to find appropriate care for their family members, using a nationwide network of nearly 2 million caregivers. The online service includes features such as detailed profiles of service providers, background checks, references and reviews to help make the process safe and easy. To be eligible for this program, you must be a current benefits-eligible UC employee. Retirees are not eligible for UC's benefit at this time, but may access the SelectPlus resources with paid membership.

This benefit is subject to collective bargaining. For a list of participating bargaining units, visit At Your Service.

SelectPlus helps you find:

  • Babysitters for after school, school vacations, extended work hours, special needs children and last-minute care needs
  • Nannies for full and part time, infant and young child care
  • Elder care providers from companions to licensed RNs
  • Dog walkers and pet sitters
  • Tutors and housekeepers

To use the services, eligible employees can register online by going to Related Information and clicking on the SelectPlus for Employees link. Postdoctoral Scholars, who are also eligible, can register online by going to Related Information and clicking on the PostDoc Registration link.
