2015 Management Skills Assessment Program

Recruitment for the 2015 Management Skills Assessment Program (MSAP) is now open. The program is designed to assess the management skills of high potential, early career supervisors, managers, and professionals for future leadership opportunities at the University. Last year, the program integrated all ten UC campuses into one program for the first time. UCLA’s Lake Arrowhead Conference Center continues to host the programs.

MSAP enables participants to identify managerial strengths, determine areas for improvement, learn about the range of skills necessary for effective management, and practice those skills in a supportive environment. Participants work with an assigned assessor to design an individualized development plan.

Applications are currently being accepted for both the Spring and Fall 2015 programs, scheduled for April 20-23 and October 12-15, 2015, respectively. It is strongly recommended that department heads discuss the program with supervisors, managers, and professionals who exhibit potential for management development and encourage them to apply.

Eligibility requirements for UCLA participants include:

  • Classification at PSS Grades 2-6 and equivalent
  • Full-time career status with a current, satisfactory (or better) performance evaluation
  • Designation as a supervisor or manager

Participants will be selected based on an evaluation of the applicant’s (1) career goals in management, (2) level of skills essential for performing management functions, and (3) demonstrated career path and/or strong commitment to management skill development.

Further information and the 2015 online MSAP application form (including applicant and supervisor components) can be found at: http://msap.ucr.edu/.

The cost of the program is $1,095 (including all program materials and room and board for three days and two nights), payable through departmental recharge or personal check to Campus Human Resources.

Completed applications must be submitted online by February 10, 2015. For more information, contact Julia Sanchez at juliasanchez@chr.ucla.edu or (310) 794-0853.
