Manual Processing Instructions for CUE (CX) Step-Increases

Pursuant to the agreement between the University of California and the CUE-Teamsters bargaining unit, UCLA implemented a 3% range adjustment. Departments will process a Service-Based Step Increase as outlined in the announcement issued by CHR Compensation on June 10, 2014. The adjustment will be effective July 6, 2014, for biweekly pay checks.

The 3% range adjustments were processed centrally by CHR Compensation. However if eligible employees were missed, the departments are responsible for processing the new rates in EDB. In addition, manual processing is required for the CX employees eligible to receive the Service-Based Step increases.

Order of Increases
Both of the increases are effective the same date. The range adjustment increase should be processed first. For the employees eligible to receive both increases, please process the service-based step increase after the new range adjusted rate is reflected in EDB. If EDB preparers are manually processing both increases, the range adjustment must be processed first and one day later, process the service-based step rate accordingly. This ensures that both increases will be recorded and reflected accurately in EDB History. The processing instructions are detailed below.

3% Range Adjustment Processing Instructions

1) Using the EAPP Screen, EDB Preparers must end the old distribution and create a new distribution with the new range adjusted rate.*

      Example:

  • Biweekly: End the old distribution on 7-5-14 and begin the new distribution 7-6-14

2) Enter Personnel Action Code 33 (manual range adjustment)* on the distribution line.

3) Enter Pan Comments: Increase reflects the new July 6, 2014 range adjusted rate.

*For New Step Rates: The UCLA on-line Title and Pay Plan will be updated soon. In the meantime, the new CX Title Code Ranges effective 7/6/2014 are available at: https://tcs.ucop.edu/tcs/jsp/nonAcademicTitlesSearch.htm.

Service-Based Step Processing Instructions

1) EDB Preparers must end the old distribution and create a new distribution with the new Service-Based Step rate (based on Service based criteria outlined in the June 10, 2014, announcement from CHR Compensation).

      Example:

  • Biweekly:  End the old distribution on 7-5-14 and begin the new distribution 7-6-14

2) EDB Preparers must enter Personnel Action Code 43 (Change in rate – Other)* on the distribution line.

3) PAN comments: New rate reflects July 6, 2014 Service-Based Step Increase.

*It is imperative that the Personnel Action Codes are reflected based on the appropriate increase.

Deadline

To ensure that the new rates are reflected on the July 30, 2014, pay check, the new rates must be entered in the EDB no later than the July 24, 2014, biweekly pay compute-date.
