Employee Reduction in Time Program (ERIT)

ERIT is a program that departments may offer as a flexible work resource. Under ERIT, eligible career staff (excluding Senior Management Group members) can voluntarily reduce their appointment percentage and corresponding pay while continuing to accrue vacation and sick leave at their pre-ERIT rate.

For departments that choose to participate in ERIT, an employee may request their department head's approval to voluntarily reduce working time from 5 – 50% of full-time for a minimum of one month to a maximum of 36 months.

Exclusively represented employees are eligible for ERIT if their applicable union has agreed to participate in the program. The following unions currently allow member participation in ERIT: AFSCME, CNA, Teamsters, UAPD, and UPTE.

Current information on the ERIT Program is posted on UCNet. For questions regarding the ERIT Program, campus employees should contact Dyanna De Alba at ddealba@chr.ucla.edu, and UCLA Health employees should contact Jane Miller at janemiller@mednet.ucla.edu.
