  • Build, sustain and manage a diverse workplace that best supports and encourages ethical decision-making
  • Create and sustain model employment practices

Sessions cover Leadership, Human Relations — Creating a Positive Work Environment, Employee and Labor Relations at UC, Managing Performance, Developing Talent, Diversity, Ethics, and Succession Management, among other topics.

Who Should Apply

Managers who supervise supervisors or who have major programmatic responsibilities on the UCLA campus are encouraged to apply when campus announcements are distributed.

Program Costs

There is a $350 registration fee to be paid by each participant’s department or sponsoring organization. The registration fee covers the cost of the program and meals (except Monday evening). Participants are also responsible for their own travel and hotel costs (the hotel is offering a reduced rate of $149 per night). A “special grand prize” drawing will also be offered at the conclusion of the program – winner must be present.

Host Hotel

Once approved for participation, applicants will be given information on how to reserve a hotel room. The site hotel reserves rooms for UCLI participants for Sunday and Monday nights at the negotiated rate for the Institute. The hotel does not take reservations for nights during the Institute unless the individual’s name appears on the confirmed list of UCLI participants submitted by the campus coordinator. A complimentary hotel shuttle is available at the San Diego airport.

Web Registration and Information

The UCLI website (see Related Information link) provides information about the program, including updated agendas and speaker bios. Prior to each UCLI, a special web registration site will be made available to UCLA applicants who have been selected to attend the program. The campus coordinator notifies those selected and communicates registration information, including a Username and Password needed to complete the web registration form.
