Professional Development Program Nominations (2015-16)

DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, and ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS

Re: Professional Development Program Nominations (2015-16)

I am writing to request nominations for participation in our annual Professional Development Program (PDP) and encourage you to consider this valuable opportunity for members of your staff. As we plan for the future, it is important to build management competencies, implement strategies to transfer institutional knowledge, and expand career growth opportunities for UCLA’s diverse workforce.

As one of our most successful career development programs, PDP is beginning its 21st year. The program assists the University in the development and retention of a highly skilled, diverse, and motivated professional staff. The program has a demonstrated record of enhancing skills, strengthening institutional loyalty, and broadening participants’ knowledge of University affairs.

The program features several components, including advanced skills training, mentoring, coaching, networking, and career assessment. Participants work with department sponsors on special projects of importance to UCLA, enabling them to demonstrate professional skills to campus leaders. Staff members at PSS Grades 2 – 6 and equivalent Programmer/Analyst levels are eligible to participate and must receive departmental endorsement.

The deadline for completed applications is April 24, 2015, and the program begins in September, 2015. Online applications, as well as a PDP ebrochure, are available in Related Information.

If you have any questions about PDP, contact Julia Sanchez, Manager—Training and Professional Development at extension 4-0853, or via email at JuliaSanchez@chr.ucla.edu.

Please join us in this opportunity to develop staff leaders of the future.

Sincerely,

Lubbe Levin
Associate Vice Chancellor, Campus Human Resources
Interim Chief Human Resources Officer, Health Sciences
