Wage Implementation of CX Collective-Bargaining Agreement

The University of California and the Coalition of University Employees (CUE) have reached agreement on a three-year contract for the Clerical (CX) Unit. The information below includes salary-program details for fiscal year 2005-2006.

According to the Office of the President Labor Relations, in order to be eligible for the following increases, a unit member must have been on pay status (or an approved leave) on the date of ratification of this agreement, February 15, 2006, and on the date of payout.

General Salary-Range Adjustment

  • Effective October 1, 2005, for monthly employees and September 25, 2005, for biweekly employees, all eligible employees in the CX unit (with the exception of those in Library Assistant titles which are discussed below) will receive a 3.5% range adjustment. This increase will be implemented centrally and will be on monthly paychecks of May 1, 2006, and biweekly paychecks of April 19, 2006. These are within-range increases only.
  • The new rates and retroactive pay will be included on the May 1, 2006, monthly paychecks and on May 3, 2006 biweekly paychecks.
  • The new rates will be reflected in EDB on April 4, 2006. To avoid overpayment, payroll should be notified of any employee who leaves the unit after this date but prior to payout.
  • Four half steps (two full steps) will be added to the top of all CX salary ranges with the exception of the Library Assistant titles, which are discussed below.

Title-Specific Range Adjustment

  • Also effective October 1, 2005, for monthly employees and September 25, 2005, for biweekly employees, all eligible unit members in Library Assistant titles (Title Codes 6759, 6760, 6761 and 6762) will receive an 8.6% range adjustment for purposes of market equity. This increase, along with retroactive pay, will be implemented centrally and will be included on monthly paychecks of May 1, 2006, and biweekly paychecks of April 19, 2006. These increases are also within-range only.
  • These new rates will be reflected in EDB on April 4, 2006. To avoid overpayment, payroll should be notified of any employee who leaves the unit after this date but prior to payout.
  • Two half steps (one full step) will be added to the top of Library Assistant (Title Codes 6759, 6760, 6761 and 6762) salary ranges.

Lump Sum

  • Employees who were in the CX unit on December 15, 2004, and also in the unit on the date of payout will receive a Lump-Sum payment of $180, prorated to their percentage of appointment.
  • This payment will be included on monthly paychecks on June 1, 2006, and biweekly paychecks on May 31, 2006.
  • Payroll should be notified of any employee who leaves the unit before the payout date.
  • Career employees who were in the CX unit on December 15, 2004, and who were transferred or promoted out of the unit, but remained on UC payroll on the ratification date of February 15, 2006, and who did not receive the 2004 bonus days, will receive eight hours of vacation accrual added to their vacation balances. For any CX unit employees who changed departments, this addition of vacation hours will need to be coordinated between the former department of the employee and their new department. Additional instruction for these changes will be released soon.

Shift-Differential Increase

  • Effective March 1, 2006, for monthly employees and February 26, 2006, for biweekly employees, all existing shift differentials in the unit will increase by $0.15. This increase will be included on monthly paychecks of March 30, 2006, and on biweekly paychecks of March 22, 2006.

Additional changes have been agreed upon for years 2006, 2007 and 2008. An announcement will be released closer to the date of implementation.
