The California minimum wage increased to $7.50 per hour on January 1, 2007. An additional increase to $8.00 per hour will be effective January 1, 2008. As in the past, the University will honor these new minimum rates.
While the new minimums only directly affect the Assistant I (Title Code 4922) and Assistant II (Title Code 4921) ranges, the Assistant III (Title Code 4920) and Assistant IV (Title Code 4919) ranges have been modified as well in order to maintain an appropriately spaced range structure. The newly created ranges for 2007 are available in Related Information.
Keep these new ranges in mind as you consider hiring new student assistants in January. Those currently on payroll will be updated centrally.
