New Employee Orientation Channel

DEANS, DIRECTORS, CHAIRS AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS

Re: New Employee Orientation Channel

In our ongoing effort to provide new UCLA employees with a comprehensive, supportive and informative introduction to the University, we are pleased to announce the New Employee Orientation Channel that has been added to the Campus Human Resources (CHR) portal.

Developed by CHR's Training and Development unit in partnership with departments across campus, the channel welcomes new staff to the UCLA community and connects them with policies and procedures, benefit-related resources, online tools, support services, and much more. Designed as a one-stop shop for new employees, the Channel includes the following sections:

  • Welcome to UCLA
  • Getting Started
  • Employee Support and Services
  • Employee Benefits
  • Navigating the Campus

A unique feature of the New Employee Orientation Channel is the New Employee Orientation Checklist located under the Getting Started section. The comprehensive checklist offers employees detailed suggestions on steps to take during their first days, weeks and months.

The channel serves as the final phase of enhancing UCLA's New Employee Orientation program, which reflects a variety of improvements, many of which were recommended by one of our Professional Development Program (PDP) teams. We are grateful to them, as well as to members of Campus Human Resources and the Training and Development team, for their fine work in benchmarking best practices, conducting focus group sessions and interviewing key UCLA administrators.

In addition to sending your new staff to New Employee Orientation, please encourage them to visit the New Employee Orientation Channel at their earliest convenience.

This site provides a wide range of resources and information to assist them at UCLA. For any questions regarding the New Employee Orientation program, or the portal channel, please contact Coordinator Elizabeth Monaco (x4-0872) or Director Robert Gibson (x4-0879).

Sincerely,

Lubbe Levin
