Ethics Briefing Rollout Update

The UC Ethics Briefing rolled out on April 9, 2007, to UCLA campus employees on active payroll status who have an email address on file, except students. If you have not received email notification from Workplace Answers or UC Ethics inviting you to complete the online Ethics Briefing, please sign up or supply an email address by contacting UCETHICS@UCLA.EDU. Implementation plans for UCLA Health System employees will be announced separately. The campus roll out does include the Geffen School of Medicine.

All UC employees, except students, are required to complete the online briefing or for those without computer access, you will need to participate in an in-person briefing session. A reminder email is scheduled for April 24, 2007, and will include a personalized link to the online Ethics Briefing. The personalized link is specifically assigned to each employee; therefore, do not forward this link to colleagues in your department if they have not received an email invitation for the online briefing.

If you haven’t already completed the briefing, please take this opportunity to participate in this required training. A series of reminder emails are scheduled for April 24, May 8, May 22 and June 5.

To gain a better understanding of the Statement of Ethical Values and Standards of Ethical Conduct, visit the UC Ethics website in Related Information. The site also provides helpful links to UC policies and will track how all UC locations are progressing toward 100% employee completion. Additionally, an Ethics Briefing FAQ is available in Related Information and provides answers to some of the most frequently asked questions regarding this issue.

For queries about course access, contact Robert Gibson, Director, CHR Training and Development, who is serving as UCLA’s “Location Administrator.” Dave Harmon, Director, Financial Management Programs, will be available to offer in-person briefing sessions for employees without computer access. For assistance with logistical issues at UCLA, contact UCETHICS@UCLA.EDU or call (310) 794-0850.
