The UC Learning Center is here!

On March 15th, the UC Learning Center launched and replaced our SkillNet online enrollment system. Now you can go to the UC Learning Center at http://lms.ucla.edu to enroll in employee training and development courses. You will need your UCLA Logon ID to sign up for courses or complete assigned training (e.g. Ethics Briefing). For assistance with UCLA Logon ID, contact the Bruin Online Help Desk at accounts@ucla.edu or go to https://logon.ucla.edu. If you need assistance with CHR classes, other than UCLA Logon ID questions, please contact CHR Training and Development at training@chr.ucla.edu. More information about the UC Learning Center, including a Help Guide, is available on the HR Portal at http://www.chr.ucla.edu.

We are offering training courses and workshops in a range of categories. The following are highlights of upcoming workshops. We look forward to seeing you in class!

Management and Supervisory Development:

Leading Change - Leaders learn how to introduce a change initiative and lead discussions with employees to explore how best to implement the changes. Enroll soon, class meets April 14th.

Building Effective Work Teams - Teams and teamwork are essential in today’s workplace. An understanding of team development concepts can help supervisors and managers create cohesion and enhance effectiveness of their work groups. Don’t miss this class on April 30th.

Become a Tech Savvy Supervisor - Learn time-saving features in Microsoft software programs and the Internet, with a focus on short cuts and application to administrative functions. Increase your effective use of technology tools to work smarter. Enroll for the April 16th offering, seating is limited.

Business and Operations:

I-9 Procedures - Learn about the procedures for completing the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services Employment Eligibility Verification (I-9 Form). The course combines lecture and hands-on exercises in preparing I-9 Forms. Class is held on April 27th.

Communication:

Writing Basics - This is a thorough back-to-basics class for the conscientious writer. A great review of the important rules of grammar, including punctuation and correct word usage. Class meets on April 6th and April 13th.

Assertive Communication - Learn assertive skills to help get your message across with confidence and respect. Identify and change habits which prevent assertiveness. Class is on April 28th.
