Learn at Lunch Coming February 2nd

Interested in accelerating your professional development in the new year? Wondering what types of available resources will help you reach your goals? Attend the Staff Assembly Learn at Lunch session hosted by CHR Training and Development to learn more about professional development resources for all employees. The Training and Development team will share information about development programs, classes, and certificates. We cover topics such as career development, computer skills, supervisory development, management development, academic personnel, and business systems. Join us to learn more and enter your name in a drawing to win free classes and special prizes! Held at the Student Activities Center, Conference Room 1 (basement level) February 2nd from noon – 1pm.

Important Notice: Activate your UCLA Logon ID!

Beginning January 31st, there will be a new sign-in page for web applications that are integrated with UCLA's single sign-on service. Deploying the new page marks the final step in UCLA's transition to single sign-on based on the UCLA Logon ID. All UCLA faculty, staff, and students are eligible for this ID (formerly known as the Bruin Online or BOL ID). If you don't have an active UCLA Logon ID, please visit https://logon.ucla.edu/ to activate your account.

We are offering training courses and workshops in a range of categories. The following are highlights of upcoming workshops. We look forward to seeing you in class!

Career Development:

Now is a great time to start preparing a career plan and developing the skills to reach your goals. CHR Training and Development offers a variety of courses to choose from. Enrollment is open for these courses:

  • Writing it Right – The Winning Resume – February 19th
  • Managing Your Career in Challenging Times – February 26th

Supervisory Development:

Managing the UC Workforce in a Unionized Environment - Provides supervisors and managers with an overview of labor relations at the University of California. It will include a description of applicable laws and regulations and the agencies that administer them, and guidance on issues confronting UCLA managers and supervisors. Class is held on February 3rd.

Management Development:

Coaching for Improvement - Designed to help managers conduct effective improvement discussions with staff and provide feedback and ongoing support needed to improve performance. This course is part of the Management Development Initiative and it targeted for managers in MSP or equivalent classifications. Offered on February 11th.

Self Development:

Time Management – Several methods for examining, planning and maximizing the utilization of time will be discussed. Participants will work on developing a personal time management plan. Enroll for this class on February 17th.
