Take advantage of skill building and professional development opportunities. The following are highlights of upcoming workshops. We look forward to seeing you in class!


Coaching for Improvement - This course helps leaders conduct effective improvement discussions, and provide feedback and ongoing support needed to improve performance. Learn to develop improvement plans, foster morale and handle challenges that arise during improvement discussions. This class will be held March 1.


Managing Up: Communicating Effectively with Your Boss - Learn to manage the relationship you have with your manager, which has been shown to increase job satisfaction and aid in professional development. Participate in interactive discussions that will help you understand your manager’s values and develop strategies for dealing with challenging situations. This class will be held March 21.


Social Media – Learn how to use social media outlets to connect with a broader audience and meet organizational goals. Discussions will revolve around Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube. Topics will include creating profiles, marketing and managing privacy issues. This class will be held March 17.


Planning Your UC Retirement – Discuss the details of the UC Retirement Plan (UCRP) and develop a greater understanding of topics such as retirement age, payment options and investment choices. This class will be held March 8.


Writing Effectively – Learn to write in clear, concise and direct prose through a variety of in-class exercises. Participants also have the option to bring a sample of writing with them to the first session that will be evaluated by the instructor and returned for feedback at the end of the course. This class consists of two sessions that will be held March 7 and March 14.
