Career and Professional Development:
Managing Up: Communicating Effectively with Your Boss – Understand the importance of actively and effectively communicating with your manager. In this class you will learn how to develop a relationship with your manager that is beneficial to the organization and professionally rewarding for all.
Writing Effectively- Learn to write in clear, concise and direct prose through a variety of in-class exercises. Participants also have the option to bring a sample of writing with them to the first session that will be evaluated by the instructor and returned for feedback at the end of the course.
Research Administration and Practices:
Contracting with Industry - This is an overview on contracting with private industry through the Office of Intellectual Property and Industry Sponsored Research. Participants will also gain an understanding of the complexity of industry contracts and receive tips on managing them from the pre-proposal to post-award stages.
Sequential Programs for Non-native Speakers - UCLA Extension’s American Language Center offers new professional development opportunities for non-native speaking professionals: two sequential programs to improve communication skills and enhance their effectiveness on the job. Participants receive a certificate upon completion. We can also bring these programs to your workplace. Visit www.uclaextension.edu/eslcertificate.
